Transport only attracts 9% of the total amount of EFSI investments

This month, the European Investment Bank (EIB) published a provisional EFSI dashboard disclosing the EFSI (European Fund for Strategic Investments) investments by sector. The EIB also published a map which shows where EFSI supported investments can be found.

On the basis of this dashboard, it seems that transport has not been the big beneficiary so far. Only 9% of the total amount of investments went to transport projects and only 6% of the EFSI transactions have been approved by the EIB so far. The EIB investment of 2 billion euros is expected to trigger 4.6 billion euros of investment in total for the transport sector. Among the thirteen projects selected to get EU financial support, only two are related to maritime transport (in Spain and Italy).
