LIVING PORTS infrastructure project at the Port of Vigo

The Port of Vigo will be implementing the LIVING PORTS, an EU Horizon 2020 funded project, to shift the Coastal and Marine Infrastructure (CMI) industry’s operations away from obsolete construction toxic to many marine organisms and requiring expensive maintenance and towards nature-inclusive infrastructure with structural, environmental, and socio-economic co-benefits. The project is part of the port integral program of actions “Sunset Dock”.
LIVING PORTS will include two large-scale sites: a 330m² ECOncrete sea wall with an underwater monitoring and community outreach deck, and 100 ECOncrete Coastalock units providing coastal stabilization as well as habitat creation and ecological uplift.
