Multiple cruise ships using onshore power supply (OPS) in the Port of Bergen
09 January 2025
More and more ships are switching to electricity instead of diesel while docked in the Port of Bergen. In April 2024, 65% of the ships visiting Bergen connected to the port’s onshore power supply (OPS).
The port’s OPS, the largest in Europe, can accommodate up to three cruise ships simultaneously. This year (2024), the goal is for at least 50% of cruise ships to use OPS during their visits, with an expectation that all ships will switch to electricity by 2026.
