Port of Gothenburg future liquid biogas plant
16 July 2024
The Port of Gothenburg's new liquid biogas (LBG) facility will liquefy biogas for distribution nationwide, targeting the substitution of fossil fuels in shipping, heavy road transport, and industries.
The new plant at the port of Gothenburg, a pioneering initiative, will directly be linked to the West Swedish gas network. After liquefaction, biogas will be stored temporarily before delivery to customers via trailers or directly as ship fuel through a pipeline. With an annual capacity to liquefy 250 gigawatt hours (GWh) of biogas, unused capacity from St1, the energy company, will be accessible to other stakeholders for their operational needs.
