ESPO congratulates the Ports of Stockholm (Sweden) for being certified through the EcoPorts’ environmental management standard (PERS). Ports of Stockholm first became a member of the EcoPorts network in 2012, and are now certified for the first time under the PERS. The certificate was handed over during the ESPO General Assembly, taking place today on 6 November 2024.
Ansis Zeltiņš: ESPO Chair, Simone Cajender: Administrator Ports of Stockholm, Camilla Strümpel: Manager of Communications Ports of Stockholm, Anaëlle Boudry: EcoPorts Coordinator and Isabelle Ryckbost: ESPO Secretary General
Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General, stated: "We are extremely happy to add the Ports of Stockholm to our list of PERS certified ports. In ESPO we have been following the successful green track record of the Ports of Stockholm over the years, with high involvement of their environmental managers in the work of ESPO’s sustainable development committee. And I suggest everyone to read their environmental report which shows this is a well-deserved PERS certification.”
Anaëlle Boudry, ESPO Senior Policy Advisor and EcoPorts Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to congratulate the Ports of Stockholm on their certification with EcoPorts PERS. As a first-time certified port managing body, it shows the great efforts of ports in environmental management and sustainability. May this leadership continue and show continuous improvement to stay ahead of the curve.”
PERS (Port Environmental Review System) is the only port-specific environmental standard. The last five years have seen important increases in its recognition and membership, with 91 ports from 26 countries currently counting themselves as part of the EcoPorts Network, and 36 ports holding PERS certification. Compliance with the EcoPorts’ PERS standard is independently assessed by LRQA Nederland B.V. and the certificate has a validity of two years. EcoPorts’ PERS is revised after the 2-year period to make sure that the port continues to meet the requirements.
