The European Federation of Inland Ports, the official voice of more than 200 inland ports in 18 countries, is looking for a new Director.

The European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) is the official voice of more than 200 inland ports in 18 countries of the European Union, Switzerland and Ukraine. EFIP highlights and promotes the role of European inland ports in the European Union to the European institutions.
EFIP actively follows all developments in EU policy and defends the common interests of its members to European policy makers.EFIP constitutes an important information network for and about inland ports. Last but not least, EFIP aims at increasing the visibility of inland ports within the European transport, political and business environment.
Since 2009, EFIP has been sharing a joint office with the European Sea Ports Organisation. The EFIP office consists of a Director and two part-time assistants. www.inlandports.eu

EFIP is looking for a new Director (M/F)

Responsibilities

-    Monitoring EU policy, and keeping members informed about policy developments of importance for inland ports and their business environment;
-    Preparing position papers and developing lobby strategies based on a solid compromise between the different views of member ports;
-    Representing the sector and its positions both at official stakeholder meetings and during bilateral meetings with EU policy makers (mainly European Commission and Parliament);
-    Drafting reports, papers, presentations and speeches and/or presenting them at conferences and seminars;
-    Drafting press releases and maintaining good media contacts;
-    Drafting and editing the annual report, newsletters and other publications, and managing the EFIP website;
-    Strengthening the network of inland ports and attracting new members;
-    Screening European programmes on funding possibilities for inland ports and facilitating partner search for European projects;
-    Preparing Executive Committee and General Assembly meetings, and organising additional meetings and events;
-    Preparing and managing the annual budget of the organisation;
-    Working in close co-operation with the European Sea Ports Organisation and maintaining good relationship with other European transport organisations.

Qualifications and Skills  

-    University degree with relevant experience;
-    Solid experience in lobbying EU institutions and knowledge of EU policy making procedures;
-    Good understanding of the European transport sector and its European policy is a must; experience in managing a membership organisation and a good understanding of the inland port sector are an advantage;
-    Excellent level in English (both spoken and written) is essential, other European languages (in particular French, German and Dutch) are desirable;
-    Good communication skills with ability to speak clearly and concisely, to express ideas and concepts in writing;
-    Strong analytical skills and ability to make concise summaries;
-    Experience in managing European projects/campaigns would be an advantage;
-    Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
-    Team player, flexible, diplomatic and pragmatic person.

The new EFIP Director will work at the ESPO-EFIP Secretariat, which is based in Brussels.
