Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) to install its first shore-side power stations for containerships
The German Port of Hamburg has commissioned the construction of a new shore-side power stations for containerships that will deliver green electricity. They will be located at container terminals Burchardkai and Tollerort.
This new power system, which will be built by Siemens AG starting from 2023, will be modelled after the first shore-side power station for cruise ships in Europe in operation at the Hamburg Cruise Center Altona since 2016. This project is conducted in line with the city’s air purification plan and constitutes an important step for the decarbonisation of the port and logistics chains.
