Hydrogen production facility at the Port of Gothenburg

Together with Norwegian energy company Statkraft, the Port of Gothenburg has started plans to construct a hydrogen production facility in the port area. The Port is currently conducting a preliminary study which should be completed in early 2022, and expects the facility to start operating in 2023. With a capacity of 4 MW, up to 2 tonnes of hydrogen will be produced every day in the new facility. Hydrogen could replace fossil-based fuels of different equipment in the port, and there is already a high demand for hydrogen-powered equipment in and around the port.
