Klaipėda Port to host green hydrogen production
13 January 2025
Klaipėda Port has signed an important contract to establish Lithuania's first green hydrogen production and refuelling stations. The project, set for completion by 2026, aims to produce 500 kilograms of hydrogen daily using renewable energy through electrolysis. This green hydrogen will be used for port operations, powering a waste-collecting vessel, and refuelling ships, railways, public transport, and private vehicles.
The project, partly funded by the EU, marks a major step in Lithuania’s transition to sustainable energy and it also aligns with broader European clean energy goals.
