The Port of Gothenburg develops digital tool to reduce CO2 Emissions

18 October 2024

The Gothenburg Port Authority and maritime operators jointly created a 'Digital Port Call' solution aimed at cutting CO2 emissions by around 1,000 tonnes annually. The system is anticipated to streamline operations and reduce costs for vessels visiting the port.

The Digital Port Call enables coordination among all stakeholders involved in a ship's arrival, including the onboard captain and harbour crew, facilitating streamlined daily operations and enhanced efficiency. Besides this, the Digital Port Call, is anticipated to reduce berth times at the Port of Gothenburg by 500 hours, shorten anchoring times by 250 hours, and lower CO2 emissions by 1,000 tonnes from vessels at anchor. The Digital Port Call, enables to achieve a more efficient and safer port call while seeing significant fuel savings which directly contributes to reducing CO2e emissions.
