OPS and automooring systems of the Port of Helsinki
06 May 2021
The amount of heavy capacity OPS connection points in Port of Helsinki is being increased. Until now, only one OPS connection has been in use since 2012 in Katajanokka harbour. The completion of all planned connection points will make it possible to use heavy capacity OPS on 10 quays in the Port of Helsinki. The plan is to achieve this by the end of 2026. The Port is also increasing automooring to make port operations faster and more sustainable. The automooring system contributes significantly to CO2 emissions reduction by optimising ship speed and reducing the time spent waiting, and mooring and unmooring vessels.
