Port of Roenne is planting trees on Bornholm
10 September 2021
Having entered a climate partnership agreement in 2020, the Port of Roenne A/S on Bornholm will plant 14,000 trees in Kannikeskoven near Åkirkeby in 2021, surpassing its annual target of 10,000 trees for the next 10 years. In total, this corresponds to 25 hectares or an area the size of 35 football fields. This will contribute to new recreational opportunities, protection of clean drinking water, and CO2 reduction via the growth of the trees. The initiative to plant trees is a natural part of the port’s sustainability work and CSR strategy.
Additionally, the Port of Roenne is acting as a shipping port for wind turbine projects in the Baltic Sea. In June 2021, the port helped several international players to test the possibility of establishing a filling station with green marine fuel on Bornholm.
