Ports of Stockholm wins funding for autonomous ship research project

The Swedish Transport Agency has awarded funding from the Maritime Transport Research and Innovation portfolio to the Ports of Stockholm and its cooperation partners for research into autonomous shipping in an urban environment. The aim of the research project is to explore and develop the safety aspects and create new conditions for maritime sustainability and mobility services, as well as to strengthen Stockholm's position from an international perspective. Ports of Stockholm's latest customer, a shipping company, has already announced the launch of an electric, autonomous ferry service in central Stockholm. The research project will run from February 2023 to February 2025.
