Renewable hydrogen for operations at the Port of Vigo

11 February 2022

The Port of Vigo will be endowed with the ‘Julio Verne’ project, coordinated by Spanish/Japanese renewable energy business group Univergy Solar, to generate and dispense renewable hydrogen for logistics operations at the port. The project uses both alkaline electrolysers and PEM membrane technologies. Moreover, fuel cells will be used for projects linked to isolated installations and other applications at industrial and residential level.

The roadmap for green hydrogen in Spain foresees a first phase installation of 600MW of capacity in electrolysers for 2024 and at least 4GW for 2030.
