Water Treatment System of the Port of Marseille Fos

The Port of Marseille Fos is dedicating €12 million to equip its 10 types of ship repair with a system for water treatment. This water segregation system collects contaminated water, treats it by decantation and filtration before releasing it into the marine environment. This system will be a first in the Mediterranean. The start of the works is scheduled for the end of 2020 and will last around five years. The result of the system will be a reduction of discharges into the sea and the improvement of the water quality in the Bay of Marseille.
