Belgium's largest solar panel roof installed at the Port of Ghent

14 October 2022

An expansive solar panel array covering 150,000 square meters has been installed in the Port of Ghent by the logistics company WDP. This marks Belgium's largest solar panel roof. With a peak capacity of 25 megawatts, this setup is poised to supply green energy to around 20,000 households annually. Initially, the energy will be sold to a power supplier, with plans to engage port partners for potential power sales. WDP aims to use this renewable energy for its operations and plans to transition its fleet of vehicles from fossil fuels to electric power, benefiting from the generated green energy. With distribution hubs across the Benelux and Romania, WDP intends to expand its solar panel capacity, demonstrating its commitment to green energy initiatives.
