Port of Esbjerg: Monitoring energy consumption and emissions in the port

06 May 2021

The Port of Esbjerg is equipped with new shore power units using renewable electricity from offshore wind turbines. Their impact is monitored through a special programme developed in partnership with Honeywell. The Port of Esbjerg aims to reduce its emissions by 70% by 2030 and this partnership will enable the Port to track in real time its energy consumption and emissions of every vessel and power socket, and identify areas of improvement. Any sudden change in the data identified by the system is immediately reported to the Port. In the future, the Port hopes to apply the same system to monitor its water consumption and heating.
