Ports of Halifax and Hamburg sign Memorandum of Understanding on decarbonisation of their shipping corridor

Hamburg Port Authority and Halifax Port Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on decarbonising the shipping corridor between Halifax, Canada, and Hamburg, Germany. Their joint efforts focus on developing port infrastructure for green hydrogen bunkering and its derivatives. This partnership aims to advance renewable hydrogen technologies, accelerate the global energy transition, and foster cooperation between both countries in expanding the global hydrogen economy. The ports also aim to facilitate technology deployment and investment opportunities for Canadian and German companies. This collaboration underscores their commitment to sustainability, seeking to create favourable conditions for decarbonisation by aligning regulatory measures, financial incentives, and safety regulations.
