The Maltese Transport Authority is a project partner in the WestMOPoCo Project and IMAROS Project. The West MOPoCo initiative supports the states of the western Mediterranean in strengthening their cooperation in the field of preparedness for and response to oil and highly noxious substances marine pollution. IMAROs EU-funded project with the aim to improve response capacities and the understanding of environmental impacts of new generation low-sulphur marine fuel oil spills. The Maltese Transport Authority sees the set-up of protective initiatives like these as key to ensuring the safety of the marine environment through cross-border cooperation.
