EFSI January 2016 State of play: out of the 42 projects approved by the EIB so far, 8 projects are in the transport sector

The European Commission published the state of play of EFSI (the so-called “Juncker Plan”) as of January 2016. Out of the 42 projects approved by the EIB so far, 8 projects are in the transport sector. From this first overview of the selected projects, the energy sector seems to be particularly active in taking advantages of the opportunities offered by these new EU financial instruments with 17 projects approved.
As regards transport, EFSI will finance 3 pure road projects, 1 pure rail project, 1 rail/road project (for the access to the port), 1 maritime project, 1 IWW project, 1 risk-sharing project.
